I'm fundraising for CALM

Hi,

I can’t guarantee I will be fit enough to do this walk so I’m not asking for sponsorship (although you can donate to CALM here)

The reason I can’t guarantee this is because on September 3rd I am having major surgery at Preston Royal Hospital to remove a meningioma from my brain. This gives me a little over 7 weeks to recover to take part in Lost-hours, this is a good target for me to aim for I reckon.
I want to raise awareness for CALM and have been trying to do this for a few years now as the work they do is so incredibly important. Although I have never used the helpline myself, I am more than aware how easy it is to get into such a situation and I am comforted knowing that such a recourse is available.
So please support this event and CALM in anyway you can.
Many thanks

I’m walking against suicide.

This October I'm taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with grief differently and defiantly, and to remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, partners and friends lost to suicide.

Here’s why:

On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.

75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.

135 people are directly affected by every suicide.

We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.
