I'm fundraising for CALM

As many of you will know, my job is in events at CALM, and I've been helping people put on and take part in events for over a year now.
We've had to postpone our flagship event this year due to the pandemic, and nearly every event this year has been cancelled. Now people all over the country are going to do the walk wherever they are - including me and my colleagues who work in the CALM office.

We'll be setting off from our office and thinking of everyone who has lost someone to suicide this year and sending them our support from Waterloo. Please sponsor me so that those people in crisis can continue to reach out to CALM for help.

I’m walking against suicide.

This October I'm taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with grief differently and defiantly, and to remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, partners and friends lost to suicide.

Here’s why:

On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.

75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.

135 people are directly affected by every suicide.

We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.
