We are fundraising for CALM
We are walking against suicide.
On OCTOBER 24TH we are taking on the Lost Hours Walk in honour of my dear friend Chris who took his life earlier this year.
6 family and friends will be walking through our home town in a 13 mile loop, through countryside, coastal paths and the town centre.
Walking was something Chris enjoyed doing with the people he loved and now we want to walk together, not only in his memory, but to raise funds to support other men who are living with thoughts of suicide.
On average 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.
75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.
135 people are directly affected by every suicide.
We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.
Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.
