I'm fundraising for CALM in memory of Joshua Stone

I’m walking against suicide.
This October I'm taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with grief differently and defiantly, and to remember our beloved nephew Josh and all our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, partners and friends lost to suicide.

Here’s why:

On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.

75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.

135 people are directly affected by every suicide.

We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.

I am taking on a 30 mile walk, a mile for each precious year of Joshs life. It will be a great challenge for me but a goal I am determined to reach. I find walking a great help when I am feeling down or stressed but walking such a long way is as much a mental as a physical challenge. You can donate to support my walk below.

My Updates

I have a walking buddy!

Saturday 19th Sep
Yay, my lovely walking buddy Di is going to do this with me. So happy to have her along.
Just been checking daylight hours at end of October and have decided to split the 30 miles over two days. Walking in the dark would add a complexity which I would rather avoid.
Thank you to everyone who has donated in Josh's memory, it means a lot.

I’m sorry to you and your family for loosing josh. I knew him for a short time volunteering in France, he was a wonderful person, down to earth, warm, loving, giving. It was a great time working and living with him. It saddens me to think of him no longer on this earth. Good luck with your walk and thank you.
