I'm fundraising for CALM

We are walking against suicide.

This October I'm taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with grief differently and defiantly, and to remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, partners and friends lost to suicide.

We lost Ol at the beginning of this year, and want to keep his memory alive in every way we can. Ol was a one of a kind, and as cliche as that sounds, those who had the pleasure of knowing him will agree.

We want to bring the taboo of suicide out of the shadows and break down the stigmas and stereotypes of mental health. Ol loved his life. He adored his children, his family & friends and would always find a way to put a smile on everyone's face, often with a joke or being silly. Ol felt everything intensely, and wore his big beautiful heart on his sleeve.

We want to honour Oli's life by coming together and sharing our grief; the laughs, stories, tears, and all the messy stuff in between. We hope that we can work together in Oli's name, towards breaking the taboo that surrounds suicide.

Some stats from CALM:

On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.

75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.

135 people are directly affected by everyday.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.

You can join my team or donate to my walk below.

Walk Details:

The walk will take place on Saturday 24th October and be from Oxford to Witney. The walk is approximately 13K and will be starting from The City Arms on the Cowley Road (one of Ol's local pubs when he lived in Oxford) and finishing at Witney Town centre.  We will be meeting at City Arms for a drink around 8pm and aim to leave by 9pm. We estimate getting to Witney around 1.30am.

The walk is open to anyone who loved Ol and wants to be part of celebrating his life and legacy.

Some kind of reflective wear and torches are going to be essential as we will be walking along dark roads. Feel free to wear some thing orange as was Ol's favourite colour or any colours/scarves etc of his beloved football team, Westham. I think he would really love that!

Sending love and hope that you can support us in anyway you can.
