I'm fundraising for CALM

 We are walking against suicide.

This October we’re taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with the grief of losing our young, talented and ambitious pole queen, differently and defiantly. She was a huge inspiration to all of us and without her, our friendship would not be as strong. She enriched our lives, made us fitter, stronger and empowered us to be confident women in our own right. She will be deeply missed.

This October I'm taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with grief differently and defiantly, and to remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, partners and friends lost to suicide.

Here’s why:

On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.

75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.

135 people are directly affected by every suicide.

We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.

What a great thing to do Julia. Best of luck to you all. I only knew Jess from some of her workshops I took part in but it is sad that she is no longer with us and it is lovely that you are supporting a cause close to her heart.
