I'm fundraising for CALM in memory of my Dad, Karl Rowntree ❤
I'm walking against suicide.
In January 2018, we lost our crazy, fun loving Dad to suicide. Our Dad was so funny, so kind and had a heart of gold for anyone that knew him. He was the life and soul of any party and was popular with all his mates! He worshipped the ground me and my brother walked on. He wore his heart on his sleeve and loved people 110%. He enjoyed his scooter rides on his vespa, and spending time with his friends. He is so dearly missed and loved by everyone. This walk is for you Dad❤
This October I'm taking on the Lost Hours Walk to deal with grief differently and defiantly, and to remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, partners and friends lost to suicide.
On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.
75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.
135 people are directly affected by every suicide.
We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.
Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.
