Aaron Basha's Lost Hours Walk

Lost Hours Walk

What a day!

An update from the team, the walk on Saturday went extremely well! There were some blister casualties by some fools who thought fancy Timberlands were walking boots.

The weather held out while we were walking which was a bonus, it did tip it down later in the evening.

There were quite a few photos, I plan on compiling them all and printing some off. This will be done over the next week or so hopefully, but for now thank you so much for all your help and support, we smashed through £5,000 which is incredible.

The walk is in 3 days!

The weather doesn't look too bad at the moment (fingers crossed it stays that way).

I have urged all participants to wear appropriate footwear otherwise I'll be calling them a idiots.

A massive thank you again to the support so far, we are safely in the top 5! What an achievement.

Merchandise

I have gone and bought myself some CALM merch to make sure I look the part.

https://kit.thecalmzone.net/product/lost-hours-walk-walkers-pack/

£2,000!!

Thank you again to everyone for their support, breaking £2000 is an unbelievable achievement considering it has been less than a week since the page was created.

Test Walk Complete

So I have walked the route in 2 stints with my brother to make sure it wasn't treacherous. It should be about 4 hours and 15 minutes, not including any rest stops, it is just shy of 13 miles.

A brilliant article on Mental Health and acts of kindness.

Top 10 Teams!

After only a few days we have rocketed into the Top 10 Teams, with 150+ teams that is a very strong effort.

Amazing work everyone.

I'm very proud to say, with your support we have helped CALM reach their own goal for the Lost Hours Walk.

THANK YOU

Smashed through £1000 thank you to all! Lets keep going!

We are fundraising for CALM

This walk is in memory of Aaron Basha, who took his own life earlier this year.

For those who knew him, you will agree Aaron was one of those once-in-a-lifetime characters. Probably hates the idea of organised walks to be honest.

On Saturday October 10th a group of us will walk from Epping Station, covering part of the Essex Way footpath, through Toot Hill where Aaron lived when he was young, following on to Ongar, and diverting to finish in Moreton where Aaron attended primary school.

October 10th is World Mental Health day, we will all be affected either directly or indirectly by mental health. This team have, and will have our own issues, I am hoping this walk can be a cleanse for us, a forum to discuss how we are dealing with this, and a safe place to open up to one another about other problems affecting us. We are all here for each other.

A message from CALM:

“On average, 125 people take their own lives every week in the UK.

75% of people who take their own lives are not known to mental health services or have not been in touch with mental health services within the last year.

135 people are directly affected by every suicide.

We’re coming together across the country to send a message that that’s not ok. We’re taking to the streets, parks, pavements, public footpaths and promenades to walk against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM’s free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat are there for anyone who needs support. They’re open from 5pm-midnight every day. Just £8 is enough to fund a professionally-trained helpline worker to answer a call that could save a life. Your support will help fund CALM’s life-saving services when they’re needed most.”

Please donate to the walk, any amount is welcome.
